“I was born in a suburb South of Chicago. As far back as I can remember, I was always creating something: either drawing in my note pads, when I should have been listening in class, or building things in my backyard. I took my real first art class in high school, after my family moved out of the city and into the rural town of Dwight, Illinois. I excelled in pottery early on (especially throwing on the wheel). I got so good at pottery that I did a majority of my classmates’ assignments while my teacher wasn't watching. Once out of school, I was looking for my next outlet and found it in woodworking, I found a way to use the raw beauty of nature and transform it into usable furniture. Some years later, I took a wood turning class in Northern California by Master Craftsman & artist, David J. Marks. I was finally able to bring my love of woodworking and my early passion of turning on a potter’s wheel together into one form of expression. While turning late one day in my shop, I came up with the idea of mixing urethane resin and highly figured wood to create a one-of-kind piece. Something of that scale had not been done before. Through a lot of trial and error, I was able to develop my signature style of art that can be seen in art galleries and on display at art shows all over the U.S.”
