Altering color on antique chinese tapistry
  • I have a 14" square of embroidered silk that is an antique Chinese tapestry. This piece will be the focal point of the back side of a jacket collage project. The peach color of the tapestry is either too light or bright. I tend to think it is a bit light. That may mean I need to over dye it. The tapestry is a pale peach color. I have a photo that may be uploaded. Would love some discussion to offer some options! Thank you!
  • The tapestry is on silk I imagine? You have several options. Both acid dyes and our silk colors could work easily. The green label silk colors might be easiest and would require the least heat. You could also choose where you apply the color. Acid dyes are used for immersion dyeing on the stove and give very even color.
